| Electronic Data Interchange is a broad concept that encompasses the automated
dealings between trading partners which are often legally and geographically
separated. The electronic documents required are usually transmitted using Internet protocols such as FTP or HTTP, but in theory any media can be used such as CD, DVD or flash drive to transfer the documents from one party to another. There are a number of standard formats for the the various documents (e.g Purchase Orders, Despatch Advices, Invoice, Remittance, etc) and LILAC contains support for a number of these. |
| The most frequently encountered document standard used in the Australian EDI context is called EDIFACT/UN - This is long established set of standards under the authority of the United Nations, and while there are more modern approaches the extensive deployment and acceptance of EDIFACT/UN often makes the preferred choice. |
| LILAC provides extensive support for EDI operations using EDIFACT/UN
standards for all aspects of electronic dealings between trading partners. Generally full EDIFACT/UN operations are indicated in medium to larger trading situations - typically when dealing in larger product volumes with major retailers and the like. |
| For the smaller enterprise Lennox Computer can offer more economic and easier to deploy strategies utilising LILAC's built-in eCommerce and business portal facilities with secure credit card processing and eMail based interaction with consumers and customers. |
| Lennox Computers approach to EDI requires the enterprise to deploy LILAC for all
related operations - purchasing, sales, inventory and accounting - EDI is not a
concept amenable to "stand-alone" operation. LILAC with EDI can be purchased as a complete package see - "Buy LILAC" in the Hardware & Packages menu above, or can be added to an existing LILAC-STOCK operation - contact Lennox Computer for a quotation to achieve this. |
